5 homemade face scrub!

1) Rice flour with honey & lemon juice or rice flour with curd & lemon juice.

* Take 1 tbsp of rice flour. Add 1 tbsp of honey and few drops of lemon juice to make a paste.
OR
* Take 1 tbsp of rice flour. Add 1 tbsp of curd and few drops of lemon juice to make a paste.
* Apply on the face. Keep it for 15-20 minutes.
* Then moisten the face with water and scrub it off gently in circular motion.
* Wash off with lukewarem water followed by cold water.
* Dry it gently with soft towel and apply moisturizer.

2) Brown sugar, honey and olive oil.

* Take 1 tbsp brown sugar and mix 1 tsp honey and 1 tsp olive oil to make a paste. You can also add a few drops of lemon juice for better cleaning.
* Scrub with it gently for about 3-4 minutes and then was it off with lukewarm water followed by cold water.
* Dry it gently with soft towel and apply mositurizer.

3) Red lentil (masoor dal) powder with milk.

* Take 1 tbsp red lentil powder and mix 2 tbsp milk.
* Let it sit for 30 minutes and then apply on the face.
* After 20 minutes, dampen your face with water and scrub it out gently in circular motion.
* Wash off with lukewarm water followed by cold water.
* Dry and apply mositurizer.

4) Coffee and yogurt.

* Take 1 tbsp ground coffee beans and add 1 tsp of curd or adjust the quantity to make a smooth paste.
* Scrub it gently in circular motion for 4 minutes and then wash it off.
* Dry with towel.

5) Almond powder and honey.

* Take 1 tbsp of almond powder and honey to make a smooth paste.
* Scrub with it in circular motion.
* Wash off, dry with towel and apply moisturizer.

Note:

1) The purpose of cold water (as the final rinse) is to tone the face. You can also use cold rose water or cold cucumber juice for toning insted of water.
2) Scrub your face once or twice a week to remove dead skin.
3) Scrubing more often and longer or harsh can backfire. So never scrub for more than 4-5 minutes maximum and always do it the most gentle way you can.

1) First you need to scrub your lips to remove dead cells. Make a scrub of lemon juice, olive oil and brown sugar.

2) Apply it on your lips. With the help of a soft brush massage gently in circular motion for 2 minutes. Rinse it off.

3) Apply Vaseline on the lips and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.

4) Wipe off the excess.

5) Line your lips with a lip liner matching your lipstick.

6) Apply lipstick on your lips and merge it well with the help of your fingers or brush. Fingers helps in heating the lipstick thus merges it well.

7) Press a tissue paper in between your lips. Apply another coat of the lipstick.

8) Take a lip gloss.

9) Apply the lip gloss over the lips concentrating near the center.

All set to go!

Cat eyeliner is always in fashion, but many struggle to get it perfect. Here is an easy, step-by-step tutorial for the same.

Step 1-Consider an imaginary line joining the end of the eye and the eyebrow. You can also use a business card.

Step 2-Now draw a line of desired length.

Step 3-Starting little away from the center of the lid, apply eyeliner toward the end of the first line.

Step 4-Now connect the open end to the other corner of the lid.

Step 5– Now fill it up.

{DIY}-Anti-hairfall mask!

All the ingredients used in this mask are known for their anti-hairfall and hair strengthening properties since ages.

You would require:

Yogurt-3/4 cup
Fenugreek seeds (methi)-1 tbsp
Curry leaves-1 handful
Amla juice-2 tbsp
Egg-1 (optional)
Coconut oil-1 tbsp (optional)

Method:

* Soak fenugreek seeds in yogurt for 2-3 hours or overnight (so that fenugreek seeds can be easily made into paste).
* Next day mix all the other ingredients (except egg) and run the grinder. Make a fine paste.

* Now beat the egg and add it to the mixture.
* Apply this paste all over your hair taking small sections of hair at a time. Start from scalp and go through the hair length.
* Wear a shower cap and if you don’t have it, wear a plastic bag but don’t leave your hair exposed.
* Wash after 45 minutes if you have added egg, else after 2 hours.

With regular use you would find that the hair fall has started decreasing 😉 🙂

{DIY}-Make your own beetroot lip balm

Apply this balm daily at bedtime and you’ll wake up with soft and smooth lips. And the beetroot makes your lips look pinkish over time. Lets see what all things are required to make this balm.

Ingredients:

Glycerine-2 tsp
Vaselline-2 tbsp
Beetroot- 1 big or 2 small
A container

Method:
* Peel beetroot and cut it into small pieces.
* Now in a double boiler melt vaselline.
* Now add glycerine and beetroot.

* Now strain it and store in a container.

Apply daily. I am using this for a week now and I wake up with super soft lips 🙂 I feel like one can use desi ghee also instead of vaseline (though I need to try that, will try with ghee and will update you’ll about that).

{DIY}-Home-made body scrub for soft and smooth skin!

I made this body scrub a month back and using it since then. It really makes the skin soft and supple. If you have an extreme oily body, you can skip adding oil. So lets start with the method!
You would need-
* Almond powder
* Crushed oats
* Red lentil/Masooor dal powder
* A bowl
* Almond oil
* Body wash

Mix crushed oat, almond powder, masoor dal in the ratio 1:2:3. You can mix good quantity of it and store it in a box and keep it in your bathroom shelf.

Now you can use this scrub while taking shower. In a bowl take 1-2 tbsp of the powder,

add 1-2 tbsp of body wash

and 1/2 tsp drops of oil(since the body wash I am using right now is already having olive oil so I am skiping the oil part).

Now add little water to make a paste.
Wet your body and then apply this paste all over it. Keep it for 5 minutes if you can and now scrub very gently with loofah and then wash with water. Pat dry with towel and apply body lotion. Do it twice or thrice a week.

Get rid of the dark underarms!!

Are you also one of those girls/ladies who is so willing to wear sleeveless shirts, tops and dresses but drops the idea because of her dark underarms? If yes, you better NOT! 😉

It is normal for the underarms to be a shade darker than the rest of your body. But if you are finding it a way darker then it means you are not taking proper care of it! But don’t worry, it’s never too late. Here are few tips which would make your underarms beautiful (just be patient..it takes around 8-10 months..but worth the effort):

1) Throw all the razors in the dustbin (not of your hubby’s..else you’d thrown in the bin 😛 ):

Yeah, please do that! Razors do not remove your hair from the roots but cut them mid-way. You can never find your underarms all beautiful after using a razor..why? Because the hair is cut midway and the hair which is beneath the skin peeks from there making the whole underarm looks darker.
Throwing razor doesn’t mean you need to invite hair remover. It is even worse than your razor. The chemicals used in it makes your skin darker after repetitive use. So the best bet is wax with tweezers. You can make an affordable, no chemical homemade wax with honey, sugar and lemon (will let you know the detail method in another post 🙂 ).

2) Try avoiding deodorants as much as possible:

Deodorants are also not good for you if you are striving for lighter underarms. If you really have the problem of body odour you can rub lemon on your underarms which has dual benefit-keeps body odour at bay and being a natural bleach lightens your underarms. If you can’t leave deodorants and can’t live without them just keep in mind 3 things- 1) Keep it at a distance while spraying 2) Always buy a deodorant after looking at its ingredients 3) Always wipe the deodorant PROPERLY before going to bed otherwise it can clog the pores, which is not good 😉

3) Make scrub your best friend:

It is very important to exfoliate the dead cell off your underarms. So make it a habit to exfoliate gently every single day while taking shower. You can also make your own effective scrub. Just mix 1 tbsp honey , 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice and few drops of oil (of your choice) and apply it on your underarms. Massage gently with circular motion and rinse it off.

5) Use cucumber and lemon:

Take a tbsp of cucumber juice with 1 tbsp of lemon juice and apply it all over the underarms everyday 5-10 minutes before shower. This will help in lightening of the underarms.

4) Moisturize:

It is very important to moisturize your underarms daily. A moisturized underarms are always softer and anything soft are mostly beautiful, isn’t it? 😉

Banana-egg hair mask to moisturize your hair!

Banana works wonder for hair. So many hair packs can be made with banana as the base. You can also use just mashed banana on your hair if you are feeling lazy. I had 2-3 eggs left in my kitchen as we are not eating them because of the ongoing month of saawan. So I mixed it with the banana. Here is the whole method-

First you need to take 1 banana and mash it with your hand or you can run it in the blender with 1 tablespoon of milk.

Now add 1 egg in it. If your hair is on the oily side do add only egg white, if it is normal you can add the whole egg. Although my hair is not oily but my hubby hates the smell of egg so I used only egg white(as it doesn’t contribute in the egg’s smell :P). In that add a tablespoon of olive oil.

Adding oil serves two purposes-first it helps in providing extra nourishment to the hair and second, banana is very TOUGH to rinse off. If you haven’t mashed it properly you would probably turn mad removing every bit of banana from your hair. So to make the job of rinsing off easy, do add oil to the mask.

Now mix all the ingredients properly and apply it on your hair taking small section at a time. Now wear a shower cap and keep the mask for about 20 minutes. Then rinse it off and wash your hair. You would notice the difference 🙂

If you are one of those who can’t bring egg to their house, don’t worry 🙂 You can try this one. Just oil your hair properly with your favorite hair oil. Mash 1 banana PROPERLY and then apply it on your hair and keep it for about 30 minutes before rinsing off.
